In 1979 he was appointed by the governor of the State of Kansas, as a District Judge, where he presided over felony criminal trials and civil jury trials.
His current practice centers around agricultural law, elder law, estate planning involving wills, trusts, and related transfer documents. In addition, Stan represents the Unified School Districts of Buhler, Fairfield, and Pretty Prairie as well as the Reno County Education Co-operative and the education support organization known as ESSDACK.
Community and church involvement have always been important. Stan has been on or currently serves on the boards of Hadley Day Care Center, Wesley Towers, Inc. (Past President), Wesley Towers Endowment Foundation, TECH Endowment Foundation, Trinity United Methodist Church Endowment Foundation (Past Chairman), Horizons Mental Health Center (an affiliate of Hutchinson Hospital), the Advisory Board of Hutchinson Community College Legal Assistant Program, and the City of Hutchinson Downtown Redevelopment Project.
