Jim returned to his hometown of Hutchinson after graduating from University of Kansas School of Law and being admitted to practice in 1972. His practice includes estate planning and probate, business owners’ services, real estate, and services for banks.

Actively involved in the community throughout his career, Jim has been a director and president of: Hutchinson School Board, Health Care Inc., Health Care Services, Inc., Reno County United Way, Hutchinson Rotary Club, Prairie Dunes Country Club, and Hutchinson Town Club. He was an original board member of the Kansas Cosmosphere and Discovery Center and served on the Hutchinson/Reno County Chamber of Commerce board, Boys & Girls Club of Hutchinson board and Hutchinson Community College Endowment board.

He is currently serving on the Boards of Directors for Hutchinson Regional Medical Center Foundation and 1st National Bank of Hutchinson.

Jim was president of the Reno County Bar Association from 1989-1990 and served as a member of the Kansas University Law Society Board of Governors from 1998-2000.
